When is the best time to come to Mongolia with HFH-Mongolia?
HFH-Mongolia accept teams from May until the beginning of October.

What is the weather like?
As it is mentioned earlier the ideal travel starts in May and the highest peak starts in July, during the Naadam holiday, and in August when the weather is most favorable for traveling. August when the weather is most favorable for traveling and October is not too late to travel to Mongolia. It is still warm during the days but a bit chilly during the nights. The hottest season in Mongolia is in July where the weather can reach from 28C up to 35C.

What is the diet in Mongolia and what kind of eatery available?
The main diet in rural Mongolia is mutton or sheep. However, there are variety types of Western (American, Italian, French, Russian) and Eastern (Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Indian) foods are available.

Accommodations
There are few western-style accommodations (guest houses) are available in the capital that starts from $15-$30. Out in the countryside, accommodations are basic with bathrooms available, however, there is no hot water. Finally, there are ger-camps available set up by tour companies.

Internet/Phones
There are plenty of internet cafes available in the city and you can buy phone cards for international calls. Internet is not available in the countryside, however, you can get cellular receptions is some areas.

R&R days

Currency/Exchange
The Mongolian currency is the tugrik. You can go to www.khanbank.com, www.mongolbank.mn for a current exchange rate. ATM machines are available at certain points.

What are tourist places in Ulaanbaatar/Mongolia?
Holidays and Festivals: Mongolia is famous for “Naadam”, “three manly sports”, wrestling, horse racing, and archery. It is celebrated on July 11-13 during these days all Mongolians gather in the capital city, Ulaanbaatar to celebrate “Naadam”.

Gandan Monastery is the largest and most significant monastery in Mongolia and one of Ulaanbaatar’s most interesting sights. Built in the mid 19th century, it is the only monastery where Buddhist services continued to function even during the communist past.

The Zanabazar Fine Arts Museum is a full collection of art works by artists, sculptors and painters of Mongolia all generation from the ancient era to the modern time.

Bogd Khaan Palace Museum build between 1893-1903, the Winter Palace of Bogdo Khan was the home of Mongolia’s last king Javzan Damba Khudagt.

Zaisan Hill this tall landmark in front of the city offers the best views of Ulaanbaatar and the surrounding nature. The large monuments on the top of the hill were erected for the memory of soldiers died in the WWII.

Kharkhorin- Mongolia’s ancient capital city during Chinggis Khan.

Khuvsgul Lake- The largest fresh water lake in the world.

Gobi deseret where you can find 2 humped camels and the beauty of Gobi deseret.

Chinggis Khan monument is a new tourist attractions which is about 65 km from the city where you can go inside the monument and see the surrounding from the top of the monument.

Sukhbaatar Square- is the center of Mongolia where the government building and all business centers are located.

Tumen Ekh show where you can see amazing throat singing and Mongolian traditional “long” songs and world famous contortionists.
